Obituary for Monica Fairley

Monica Fairley
Monica Shawn Davis Fairley was born on August 22, 1967 to Irene Curtis and Ben Davis in the city of Mobile, Alabama. She was a native and life-long resident of Whistler, Alabama. She was called from labor to reward on April 8, 2018. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother Marvin Davis, her beloved sister Samona Curtis and her mother in law Lillie Pettway. She was loyal and faithful member of the Macedonia Baptist Church of Prichard.

Shawn was full of life laughter and smiles no matter what was going in her life. Her most favorite times was having family gatherings with all of those that she loved so dearly. She was an excellent cook and host to everyone who came into her home. Even if she didn’t know you personally, you were always made to feel like you’ve known her for years. Her love and care for her family will live on in our hearts forever.

Shawn was employed by Oxford Health Care as an in-home patient caregiver. She enjoyed being able to be there for her patient who were unable to do things for themselves. Her special love was for Javier (Jay) Rowe the son of WGOK’s Felicia Allbritton for a number of years. Even when she didn’t feel well, she made sure that Jay was taken care of.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted husband Rudy Fairley; her daughter Tykeria Jackson, her nieces, ReKeisha (Jalon) Green and Arisha Curtis, two sisters Princetta Smith and Gwendolyn (Casey) Hill all of Mobile, AL; one brother Reginald Davis, three brothers in laws, John Fairley Whistler, AL, Elder David (Minister Phyllis) Fairley Mobile, AL, Retired SSG Kalvin Fairley, Sr., Okinawa, Japan and a sister in law, Ashley Pettway, Whistler, AL., godmother, Helen Sims, two uncles, John Curtis, Jr., and Bishop Robert Davis, three specials aunts, Rose (Payton) Cook, Jessie (Willie) Davis, Mary Curtis and a special son to her DeTyrus Norwood and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephew and friends too many to name.

Her remains will lie in state on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 1- 8pm at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 1pm until the 2pm funeral hour at Macedonia Baptist Church, 151 July St., Prichard, AL. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Walker Springs, Alabama..
